Winter in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, transforms the valley into a breathtaking wonderland, where snow-dusted peaks rise sharply against crisp blue skies and frosted evergreens line quiet trails. The serene stillness of frozen rivers, the sparkle of fresh powder, and the dramatic backdrop of the Teton Range create a magical, almost otherworldly landscape that captivates visitors and invites outdoor adventure, from skiing and snowboarding to wildlife watching and cozy fireside moments.

SEPTEMBER 2026

9th–20th | 42nd Annual Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival
Throughout Jackson Hole — Twelve days of gallery events, artist receptions, demonstrations, auctions and special programming celebrate Western, wildlife, landscape and contemporary art throughout the valley.

12th | Old Bill’s Fun Run
Jackson Elementary School Fields — Celebrate the 30th anniversary of this beloved community fundraiser with free 5K and 10K runs, an untimed fun run and walk, the Diaper Derby and a nonprofit village featuring more than 100 local organizations. Festivities run from 8 a.m.–noon.

13th | Arts on the Green
Art Association of Jackson Hole — Browse work from regional artists during this outdoor show and sale from 10 a.m.–5 p.m., held during the Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival.

18th | Jackson Hole Showcase of Homes
Throughout Jackson Hole — Tour a collection of distinctive Jackson Hole residences and explore exceptional architecture, interiors and craftsmanship from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. as part of the Fall Arts Festival.

19th | Jackson Hole QuickDraw + Auction
Jackson Town Square — Watch artists create original works in just 90 minutes beneath the iconic elk antler arches before the finished pieces head directly to auction. The event runs from 8 a.m.–1 p.m.

19th | 20th Annual Jackson Hole Art Auction
Center for the Arts — One of the Fall Arts Festival’s premier collector events returns with its 20th annual live auction featuring significant Western, wildlife, landscape and contemporary works.

20th | Snow King Oktoberfest
Snow King Mountain — Head up the mountain for craft breweries, live music, seasonal food and sweeping views as Snow King celebrates fall from 2–7 p.m. Weather permitting, festivities take place at the summit.

26th | Jackson Hole Marathon, Hole Half & Quarter Marathon
Jackson Hole to Teton Village — Run through some of the valley’s most scenic terrain with marathon, half-marathon and quarter-marathon distances finishing beneath the Tetons in Teton Village.

26th–27th | Jackson Wild Festival Community Screenings
Center for the Arts — Jackson Wild presents two evenings of wildlife storytelling and filmmaker Q&As, with Nuisance Bear on Saturday and Heart of a Lion on Sunday. Screenings begin at 7 p.m. nightly.

26th–27th | Teton Village Oktoberfest
Teton Village — The fall celebration expands to two days in 2026 with Bavarian traditions, regional craft beer, food, live entertainment and family-friendly activities in the heart of Teton Village.

OCTOBER 2026

4th | Big Thief with Special Guest Iris DeMent
Center for the Arts — Indie folk-rock favorites Big Thief bring their Somersault Slide 360 Tour to Jackson with acclaimed singer-songwriter Iris DeMent. The concert begins at 7 p.m.

10th | Pumpkins on Fire
Art Association of Jackson Hole — Celebrate fall with live raku firing, handmade ceramic pumpkins, block-printing activities and family-friendly art projects from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Admission is free.

21st–25th | Jackson Hole Writers Conference
Center for the Arts — Writers of all experience levels gather for workshops, craft classes, publishing discussions, readings and conversations with authors, editors and literary agents.

22nd–24th | Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard Club Annual Ski & Gear Swap
Snow King Center / Heritage Arena — Buy and sell new and used alpine, Nordic, backcountry and snowboard equipment while supporting the Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard Club. Gear drop-off begins Thursday, with the main swap continuing through Saturday.

31st | Halloween on Town Square
Jackson Town Square — Downtown Jackson gets into the Halloween spirit with trick-or-treating, costumes and family-friendly festivities centered around Town Square and participating local businesses.

NOVEMBER 2026

4th–6th | Teton Mudpots Fall Sale
Art Association Gallery & Loft — Shop pottery, prints, paintings, jewelry and other handmade pieces created in Art Association studios. The three-day sale also helps support local arts programming.

13th–14th | 12th Annual Wyoming Snow & Avalanche Workshop
Center for the Arts — Backcountry users, avalanche professionals and winter recreationists gather for two days devoted to snow science, avalanche education and safer decision-making in the mountains.

15th | Brainstorm Speaker Series: Jad Abumrad — Words Fail Me
Center for the Arts — MacArthur Fellow and Radiolab creator Jad Abumrad takes the stage for a free evening of ideas, storytelling and conversation beginning at 7 p.m. Reservations open October 9.

26th | Jackson Hole Thanksgiving Turkey Trot
Stilson / Wilson — Work up an appetite on Thanksgiving morning during Jackson Hole’s annual community 5K run and walk. The 2026 event is scheduled for 9 a.m.

27th | Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Opening Day
Teton Village — First chair returns as Jackson Hole Mountain Resort officially begins its 2026–27 winter season. Opening remains subject to snow and operating conditions.

27th | Annual Jackson Hole Town Square Lighting
Jackson Town Square — Jackson welcomes the holidays beneath its illuminated elk antler arches with music, seasonal treats, festive entertainment and a visit from Santa. The 2026 lighting is scheduled for the Friday after Thanksgiving.

28th–29th | Shop Local Holiday Weekend: Cookies & Cocoa
Downtown Jackson — Celebrate Jackson Hole’s small businesses with holiday shopping, complimentary cocoa and cookies around Town Square from 1–4 p.m.

DECEMBER 2026

3rd | 15th Annual Wort Plaza Holiday Street Lighting Party
The Wort Hotel / Glenwood Street — The Wort kicks off the holidays with live music, cookies, hot cocoa and a visit from Santa before the lights illuminate Glenwood Street. The hotel currently lists the celebration for 5 p.m. on December 3.

3rd | 27th Annual Avalanche Awareness Night
Center for the Arts — Jackson Hole’s backcountry community comes together for an evening focused on avalanche education, snowpack awareness, winter safety and community resources. The 2026 event is scheduled for December 3.

4th–5th | Holiday Bazaar
Jackson Hole Conference Center — Shop ceramics, jewelry, paintings, photography, textiles, woodwork and other handcrafted gifts from local and regional artists from 10 a.m.–4 p.m.

9th–23rd | Holiday Makers’ Market
Art Association Gallery & Art Supply Store — Browse an evolving collection of locally made jewelry, pottery, glass, prints, paintings, soaps, ornaments and other handmade gifts throughout the holiday season.

10th–13th | Jackson Hole International Film Festival
Jackson Hole — The winter edition of JHIFF returns for four days of independent and international cinema, filmmaker conversations and special screenings at venues around the valley.

21st–Jan. 3rd | WinterFest in Teton Village
Teton Village — The holiday season at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort includes a rotating lineup of family activities and winter celebrations, culminating with New Year’s Eve festivities. The current Teton Village calendar lists WinterFest from December 21 through January 3.

31st | New Year’s Eve Torchlight Parades & Fireworks
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort & Snow King Mountain — Ring in the New Year with one of Jackson Hole’s signature winter traditions as glowing torchlight parades descend the slopes before fireworks light up the mountain sky.
