We have tested and implemented an additional security measure within on our Microsoft o365 mail portal. As we have seen in the past, people send email pretending to be one of our executives, requesting money or services. While this measure will not eliminate this type of threat, it will assist in identifying most of these messages. We can only perform this on internal mail addresses so agents using external addresses for email will not see this new feature.
From now on, if someone receives an email message from OUTSIDE OUR COMPANY with one of the following display names:
It will prepend **EXTERNAL** in the subject of the message:
If agents get messages marked **EXTERNAL** from a Select Group staff member they should proceed with caution and assume the identity is forged.
