1. Getting your bathroom fixtures shiny and looking like new can be a time-consuming project, but this hack makes it easy.

Put a few drops of baby oil onto a damp cloth and then wipe down your steel or chrome sink fixtures. The oil will add shine and also help prevent scum and lime build up. Don’t use too much or your fixtures will be greasy.

2. To easily clean your shower curtain…

Just throw it into the washing machine with a couple of towels and run it on the gentle cycle. Pour in a half cup of baking soda during the wash cycle, and a half cup of vinegar during the rinse cycle for best results.

3. Tea is another multipurpose item and can be a great item to use when cleaning your bathroom.

Use black tea which contains tannic acid which can dissolve dirt and grime. Put the tea in a spray bottle and mist your mirrors and windows. Then scrub with a lint-free cloth.

4. PAM spray can be used to scrub away soap scum.

Simply spray your shower down with the spray, let it sit for five minutes and rinse it away with soapy water.

Vinegar and citric acid are WEAK acids. Do not use hydrochloric acid (such as toilet bowl cleaner) on chrome, or you will end up with brass. Baking soda is a WEAK base. It will not help with a hair clogged drain. Home Depot has strong sodium hydroxide drain openers that really work well. Strong bases can attack certain metals, such as lead and aluminum, but will not harm chrome. There is nothing wrong with harsh chemicals that do the job; just use common sense with them. On the other hand, if you insist on lemonade, be sure that it is organic, non-GMO, gluten free, antibiotic free, hormone free, anti-oxidant, ayurvedic, and natural. Consider homeopathic preparation of your cleaning agents; that way they are unlikely to damage your beautiful surface or injure you if they contact your skin.

In any case, you are a fool to have chrome bathroom fixtures. You are better off with brushed nickel. All chrome does is display lime spots if you don’t wipe it after every use.

And while we are at it, most of Home Advisors suggestions on bathroom remodeling do not consider ease of cleaning. Most irritating is that tiny space behind the basin faucet that loves to accumulate lime and soap scum. Why not have the faucet on the SIDE of the sink instead of up against the wall?

Thanks for the motivation on the bath tub grout. I am not going to use lemonade on it; I will dig it out and replace it!
