4 Tips to Prepare for the Fall Selling Season

Fall is upon us, so what can you do to take advantage of this great time of year? Well we found a list of four useful things you can do that will keep your business chugging on throughout the fall and well into next year!

  1. Get a Business Plan Ready to Go

Around 90 percent of all agents like a business plan! If you don’t have one, here’s how you can create one simply and easily.

Get a printout of all of this year’s closed transactions, or as much as possible. It would be wise to have this in an Excel spreadsheet, but that is up to you.

All of the columns should be labeled where each transaction came from (referral, paid lead, web, etc.) the approximate age of the client, marital status, kids or not, client’s profession, or any other useful information you can gather.

Now after that is done, you will check for patterns. Are you getting more business from specific locations? Do you get clients with certain ages, or similar lifestyles? Pay attention to commonalities, especially, if the client shares some with you.

Now, you will devote 90 percent of your time generating leads like the ones you have already attracted. Remember, when prospecting for similar clients, pay attention where they are coming from and be sure to note it down. Early fall means three seasons in less than 90 days, take advantage of the seasons!

  1. Five Holidays in 8 weeks means advantages!

Does your local market have a Halloween carnival or pumpkin patch? Do the owners in your area litter their yards with holiday decorations? Do they have a competition for the homes with the best holiday decorations? If your area is like many, chances are they will be celebrating many of the coming holidays. Be sure to take as many photos and videos as possible. If you are holding an open house, use these holidays as a theme for your open houses. You can also use the pictures and videos in both your online and offline marketing campaigns.

  1. Give Back to Your Community

We should all make the time to give back to our community, but what if I told you it could also increase your business? In Steve Kantor’s book, “Billion Dollar Agent: Lessons Learned,” two-thirds of the billion-dollar selling agents Kantor profiled attributed their service to their community as primary source of leads for their businesses.”

  1. Mark October 23rd on Your Calendar

Why? Well on Oct. 23rd, the National Association of Realtors will be taking sign-ups that will allow you to use a .Realtor domain name extension as opposed to a .com or .org extension for your personal website. You will absolutely want to grab “your name.Realtor,” but they also say you can sign up for more than one! Take advantage of this opportunity! You will want to grab domains that incorporate a ZIP code. Why? Well many people who use the internet to search for homes are searching using ZIP codes and addresses. If you can beat others to the punch, you may walk away with a clear advantage!

Here are just a few ways for you to gear up for this fall selling season. Make sure to benefit this fall, and create a smooth sailing plan to end the year proud!
