New California Mandates For All Garage Door Openers

California mandates that all automatic garage door openers sold or installed in California on or after July 1, 2019 must be equipped with a battery backup starting on July 1, 2019.  Residential property owners installing either a new garage door or opener will be subject to the new standards. The bill came as a result of the 2017 California wildfires that left some people trapped in their garages.
